Farewell Pak Okie. Until We Meet Again.

Celebration of Life for Mr. Okie Setiawan


Our brother, koko, and beloved husband, father, and friend, Pak Okie Setiawan, went home with the Lord on Monday, April 24, at 10:58 PM.
All of us at Soli-Deo Indonesian Church are completely heartbroken.
Brother Okie is a strong servant-leader, a tireless laborer for the Lord,
who knows each of the congregation by name.
He was a strong fighter, and we all expected him to come back.
But the Lord has a different plan. And He called brother Okie home way sooner than we thought.
But His Ways is higher than Our Ways. And His plan is perfect.

Ko Okie fought the good fight. He finished the race. He remained faithful to the very end.
Our heart and condolences for sister Ester, brother Anton and all of the family.

Brother Okie was diagnosed with a serious case of Diffused Large B-Cell Lymphoma,
an aggressive type of cancer that attacks the lymphatic system.
He was treated in Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Dallas T. Boone Pickens Cancer Hospital ICU.

10:58 PM Our brother, beloved husband, father, and uncle, ko Okie passed away with his wife and children next to him.
He passed away peacefully.
He’s home.
Rest in peace, my friend. Your life is an inspiration. You fought the fight. You kept the faith. You finished the race. His Will be done. HaleluYah.

8:07 PM So we all prayed. We prayed hard.

But ko Okie is tired.

He has fought a good fight. He ran the race all the way and remained faithful to the very end.

We continue praying, but His will be done. 🙏

6:07 PM All, we need your prayers. Ko Okie condition after pneumonia is not good. Please continue to pray for healing and for the family. 🙏

7:07 AM Last night, ko Okie started developing pneumonia and had trouble breathing. Thankfully God made a way and doctors and nurses was able to help and he is stabilizing. He is still coughing a lot.

Please pray for heal encouragement and strength. Ko Okie has fighting spirit. Pray that ci Ester is kept strong as well. 🙏

11:40 PM The blockage is clearing up! Praise God, Okie is doing better now. HalleluYah! 🙏

9:50 PM Ko Okie is having a hard time breathing. He is being diagnosed with pneumonia. Doctors and nurses doing what they can. We need Jesus right now. We are all praying hard. 🙏

9:00 AM Ko Okie is enjoying his breakfast and have good appetite. A big major step up.

8:40 AM Doctor mentioned that Ko Okie is doing well. No infections at this time. He is very alert, and blood pressure is stabilizing. He’s talking quite a bit with the doctors and nurses. He’s also getting soft foods for breakfast today, a major step up.

9:30 AM Doctor increased the fluid intake in his dialysis. Ko Okie can eat soft foods like cream of wheat and yogurt. Pray for encouragement, so that ko Okie wants to eat more. 🙏

Please also pray for sister Ester and bro Anton, and family, so each can remain strong and healthy. Praying for renewed strength, resolution. Isaiah 40:31.🙏

10:00 PM A pleasant surprise: a nurse with the same last name as ko Okie, who has been in the same building for 10 years stopped by and checked on ko Okie
What are the odds. Yet another reason to consider that indeed everything is in His plans and His control.

4:00 PM Doctor in charge of ICU mentioned that ko Okie’s condition is better than yesterday. Let’s pray that blood pressure continues to stabilize. 🙏

12:00 PM Good news. Ko Okie is continuing to improve, and can drink liquids and eat ice chips. Let’s pray for continuous healing, strength and encouragement. 🙏

07:45 AM Ko Okie is continuing to improve. The chemotheraphy treatment is running its full course. Doctors indicate that there seems to be a slight improvement on ko Okie’s liver. Let’s continue to pray for ko Okie’s liver to continue to improve. 🙏

10:41 AM Ko Okie doing much better today and starting to do Physical Therapy. He can sit and even stand up.

Although still going through dialysis and treatment, ko Okie is steadily gaining strength.

He is able to sit up now, and even wants and able to stand up. He is also a lot more alert. All good signs.

Let’s keep praying for continued effectiveness of treatment, continued healing, reduction of cancerous cells, and bodily functions returning to normal. Thank you all! 🙏

10:00 AM Ko Okie is doing much better over night. Blood pressure gradually improving. Kidney is functioning better.
His care nurse mentioned that he is a lot more alert as well.

Ci Ester is also doing well.

Praise the Lord! 🙏

9:17 PM Ko Okie’s digestive system is functioning better. Also, thank God for sending a night shift nurse that cares for ko Okie. Prayer works. Thank you all.

6:45 PM Ko Okie’s blood pressure is improving after medication. Let’s continue to pray. 🙏

3:45 PM Ko Okie completed first round of chemo infusion treatment. His blood pressure is lower than the doctors would like to see.
Please pray that his blood pressure will improve. 🙏

8:00 PM Pak Okie is able to rest a lot more today, and seems to be doing well with chemo infusion. Thank you all for your prayers. 🙏

3:40 PM Pak Okie is starting on his chemotherapy. Please pray so that the treatment will be effective, and his body will be able to handle it.

10:30 AM Doctors is starting to setup targeted chemo treatment for ko Okie.

8:00 AM Need your help to pray so brother Okie can have peace. His kidney is not working too well. Doctors had to run dialysis, which involves putting in tubes in and he’s not comfortable. But he knows all of us are praying for him.

Please continue to pray for ko Okie so he is calm and can rest. 🙏

Please continue to pray for wisdom the doctors for next steps. 🙏

Please especially continue to pray for ci Ester, ko Anton and their family for strength, health, and wisdom. 🙏

12:05 AM – Ko Okie was moved to Pickens building ICU, so doctor can closely monitor and perform critical treatment.
Please pray for ci Ester and ko Anton, for strength and health.

10:00 PM – Ko Okie is doing better after initial treatment. He is still restless though. Please pray so he can get some rest tonight.

4:00 PM – Brother Okie is being diagnosed with an aggressive case of lymphoma, an aggressive type of blood cancer.

The doctors have diagnosed ko Okie with lymphoma. It’s an aggressive type of blood cancer that affects the immune system.
They are taking immediate action to perform necessary treatment soon.
Please pray for ko Okie, and for the doctors who will perform the treatment.
Please continue to pray for ci Ester, and family.

10:00 AM – Brother Okie is being treated in Baylor Medical Center.
His liver and kidney are not doing too good, but the medical staff is taking action to help the situation.
Please pray for strength for ko Anton and sister Ester and Mariana as well, so they remain healthy and strong.

10:00 PM – Brother Okie will be transferred to Baylor Medical Center in Downtown Dallas.

Please pray for strength for sister Ester as well.

4:00 PM – Pak Okie was in ICU in Texas Health Harris Methodist Hurst hospital.

Unfortunately, the doctors are still not sure what’s wrong with his liver. Pak Okie alert and is well, but he is worried.

Ci Ester is also doing well and is able to eat and go home. Ester do want to thank you for all of your concerns and prayers.

Please pray for ko Okie, for the family and doctors to take the right action and figure out what’s wrong with him.

Please pray for calm and peace over him. 🙏
